Self-employment tax is 15.3% on 92.35% of net earnings from self-employment. 2026 Social Security wage base is $184,500. 2026 IRS business standard mileage is $0.725/mi before July 1, 2026 and $0.76/mi on or after July 1, 2026. The federal 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC reporting floor is $2,000 for payments made after December 31, 2025, under P.L. 119-21 sec. 70433, and is indexed for inflation beginning in 2027. That floor governs whether a payer must issue a form. It does not govern whether income is taxable. Outdoor-trade rules (dump permits, water, licenses, sales tax on services, workers' compensation for helpers) vary by city. This site does not compute state or local tax. State information-reporting rules vary and several states had not conformed to the federal floor for 2026.
